Answer

Is 10 GB of hosting storage enough for a WordPress site?

Short answer

For most WordPress sites, yes — comfortably. A WordPress install with a theme and a dozen plugins sits well under a gigabyte before you add media. Storage is rarely the limit that bites first.

What actually uses the space

Not WordPress. The things that fill a disk are:

  • Images, and specifically the resized copies WordPress generates for every upload. A few thousand photos at full resolution will do it.
  • Video hosted on the server rather than on YouTube or Vimeo. Do not do this.
  • Backups stored on the same server, which some plugins default to. This is bad practice twice over — it eats your quota and it keeps your backup on the machine most likely to fail.
  • Email, where mailboxes share the hosting quota.

Which plans give you 10 GB

Bluehost Starter (10 GB NVMe, 10 sites) and SiteGround StartUp (10 GB, one site). Hostinger Premium gives 20 GB but caps you at three sites.

Notice that in each case the other limit is the more restrictive one. SiteGround StartUp will stop you at one website long before 10 GB becomes a problem.

The limit that usually bites first

In practice, people outgrow shared hosting through traffic and CPU limits, or hit a site-count cap, well before they fill the disk. When comparing plans, weight site count, backup policy and renewal price above storage — storage is the number hosts advertise because it is cheap to give away.
