SiteGround StartUp vs GrowBig vs GoGeek
GrowBig is the tier most people should buy, and the one SiteGround designed the lineup around. StartUp holds one website and has no staging; GoGeek adds Git, priority support and white-label tools that only agencies use. The intro prices are $2.99, $4.99 and $7.99 a month; the renewal prices, which apply from month 13, are $17.99, $29.99 and $44.99. Choose on the renewal number, because that is what you will pay for years two, three and four.
SiteGround sells three shared plans on the same infrastructure (Google Cloud), with the same free daily backups, the same 24/7 in-house support, the same free SSL, CDN and email. The tiers differ on capacity (sites, storage, traffic guidance) and on developer features. Unlike Hostinger and Bluehost, SiteGround’s intro discount runs for 12 months only, so the renewal price arrives fast and the four-year cost is dominated by it.
What each really costs
| Plan | Intro | Renews at | Year 1 | 4-year cost | 6-year cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| StartUp | $2.99/mo | $17.99/mo+502% | $36 | $684 | $1,115 |
| GrowBig | $4.99/mo | $29.99/mo+501% | $60 | $1,140 | $1,859 |
| GoGeek | $7.99/mo | $44.99/mo+463% | $96 | $1,716 | $2,795 |
Intro price for the first 12 months, then SiteGround’s standard 12-month rate. SiteGround publishes its standard rates in its knowledge base, which is rarer than it should be. Verified September 2026.

Read the four-year column, not the intro column. GoGeek costs more over four years than Hostinger’s Cloud Startup and nearly as much as a small Cloudways server; GrowBig costs about what a managed WordPress host charges. SiteGround’s support and backups are the best in this category, and this is what they cost.

Two rows decide it. One website on StartUp is a hard limit, not a guideline; the moment you want a second site, even a test site, you are on GrowBig. Staging is the other: GrowBig lets you copy a site, test an update, and push it live, which is the single most useful feature in shared hosting for anyone who has ever broken a site with a plugin update. GoGeek’s additions (Git, priority support, white-label) are for people who build sites for other people.
Which one to pick
StartUp, if…
- You have exactly one site and are sure you will not add a second
- You want SiteGround’s support and daily backups at the lowest entry price
- You accept that at $17.99 renewal it is the steepest jump we track (+502%)
GrowBig, if…
- You run, or will run, more than one site
- You want staging and on-demand backups
- You can live with $29.99/mo from year two, which is the honest price of this plan
GoGeek, if…
- You manage client sites and need Git, white-label access and priority support
- Traffic is genuinely in the hundreds of thousands a month, at which point compare it with Cloudways or a VPS first
The 24-month trick
SiteGround’s standard rates drop on the 24-month term: StartUp $14.99, GrowBig $24.99, GoGeek $39.99 a month, against $17.99, $29.99 and $44.99 on 12 months. The intro discount itself applies to the first term only, so the cheapest way to own GrowBig for three years is one 12-month intro term followed by a 24-month renewal, not three annual renewals. Monthly billing exists but at $24.99 to $49.99 it is only for testing.
30 days on shared plans, 14 on cloud. Domain fees may be deducted even where the domain was free. Details in the refund window answer.
